The volunteer Firefighters of the Gilbertsville
Fire & Rescue Company carry on a fine, time-honored tradition
of selfless service, professionalism, excellence and dedication
to the Gilbertsville community and the to the fire service as
a whole.
We are a 100% volunteer, non-profit
organization whose mission is "to provide efficient and effective
emergency response services and awareness programs to the people
inhabiting, employed and visiting in Douglass Township; in order
to mitigate hazards and preserve life and property, as requested
by the municipality, required by statute, or deemed necessary
by the Chief Officers."
We are comprised of 26 active firefighters all who
are dedicated volunteers. Most are residents of Douglass Township.
More than 50% of our active members are PA State Firefighter I
and National Pro-Board certified firefighters.
We are your friend's, your neighbors, fellow citizens,
who all give of ourselves for the betterment of our community.
Our volunteer firefighters give countless hours away from family
and friends to help those who are in need, not only for our township.
Our station, located at 1454 East Philadelphia Ave.
(Rt. 73) in Gilbertsville houses 6 separate; but equally important
pieces of equipment: Squad Truck, Rescue Truck, Field Truck, Utility
Truck, Engine and Tanker. In addition, we provide housing for
the Pottstown area Salvation Army mobile unit and soon to come,
a marine unit.
We also provide mutual aid to our surrounding fire
departments when they need help and they do the same for us in
return. Please remember we receive very little in funding. Grants
that we receive and your donations make up our only source of
income.
...and we do not have a fire
tax!
